Touch In Sol – New Releases & New Website

If you have been a long-time reader of the blog, firstly thank you, you’re a gem and deserve a lifetime of burritos. But secondly, you might remember a post about Touch In Sol from nearly a year ago. I mentioned in the post about their incredible mascara and my wish for the colour cosmetics to hit Australian stores. Well, we are in luck! Touch In Sol are launching  a brand new website really soon, giving us easy access to their stunning range of cosmetics. A few goodies have landed here at Beauty Bender HQ, so I thought we would have a quick chat about the products that will now be available to us Aussies.

Brow Gellin Gel Eyebrow Styler *

I love me a pomade style eye brow gel. I find that this type of formula is best for long-lasting, defined brows. The Brow Gellin is a little different however. Instead of the normal pot, this is delivered in a pen like design. It is a little deceiving  though as the pen comes apart into a brush and pot type of set up. It first glace the pot is quite small and it may make it a little difficult to use.  Although the brush does fit in the pot with ease, it doesn’t look like there is a whole lot of product and it does make me think that the more I use it, the harder it will be to get product out. This particular gel is light, blendable and quite natural looking. The brush is surprisingly good; it is soft but firm enough to get that much desired definition. I found this formula super easy to use and a littler drier than some pomades, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. I find that it doesn’t move or smudge and dries really quickly. I really really like the formula, like, really really like! But I think the cool practical packaging may not be so practical in the long run. But you can make up your own minds. This is by far my favourite of the Touch In Sol brow range.

Browza Super Proof Gel Brow Liner*

Browza is Touch In Sol’s version the much loved Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz. The packaging states that Browza is a water proof, sweat proof  and smudge proof gel brow pencil.  The packaging is simple and includes a little spoolie. The pencil itself is a little larger than I expected, but with a light-hand it works just as well. The formula certainly does glide on and is easily blended in for a natural look.  Browza works well for a brow pencil but my only critisism would be that the spoolie is just a little too soft and doesn’t really comb my crazy brows into place, nor does it assit in the blending of product.

Light Bright Brow Spot Highlight*

I really like the concept of this product, Light Bright is essentially a highlighting pen that is used to highlight the brow bone, inner corner and basically any sweet feature on your cute little face. While the formula does require a little blending, the result is beautiful, yet subtle. Perfect if you tend to stray away from instagram-style, crazy shimmery brow bones. I really like using Light Bright on natural looking makeup days to accentuate my eyes without going overboard.

Metallist Liquid Foil & Glitter Shadow Duo*

Now this is one of the new releases that I was most excited about. I  have read reviews of these little wonders and just had to get my hands on some. The idea behind this little wand is a long-lasting, high-pigment foiled eye shadow without any trouble. Firstly you spread on the liquid foil to add pigment to the eye but to also act like a glitter glue. The next step is the foiled glitter shadow, and man does this pack a punch – It is just stunning. Once placed on top of the base it transforms into the most glittery metallic magical eye shadow you’ve ever seen. There is very minimal fall out and the product lasts all night. There is no fussing about with glue, there isn’t sparkles all over your face (unless that’s the look you’re going for), there isn’t any gross creasing and sparkles all up in your eyeballs. Metallist is easy, dramatic and oh-so sparkly. It is perfect for a night out, or just adding some sparkle to any look. I believe that it comes in 5 shades, all of which are fabulous. I have Margaret which as you can see is a rose gold/champagne hybrid.  If there is something that NEEDS a place on your wishlist, it is this.

Swatch on the top is just the base and swatch below is both the liquid and powder.

Stretchex Stretch Lash Effect Mascara *

Where do I begin with this holy grail item? Never have I come across a mascara that gives me such butterfly like lashes. Stretchex is super black and the formula is not thick nor is it runny. It glides on the lashes without much effort and immediately my lashes are lengthened beyond belief. They are also separated, curled and voluminous. There are no clumps, no flaking and my lashes just look unreal. It really is the all in one mascara. Because of the buildable formula, it is easy to layer and build up on its own or on top of other mascaras for a more dramatic look. This little yellow and black beauty is a staple in my makeup bag and I couldn’t be more thrilled that it will now be easily available to me.

‘scuse the bare face, but this is with only one quick coat of Stretchex mascara.

Style Black Gel Liner *

These little gems are a whole heap of fun, they aren’t your ordinary eyeliner. These gel liners although black have a special little sparkle. Each of them have a coloured fleck that will add a whole other level to your eyeliner game. These are gel based and glide on like an absolute dream. Once they are set, they are not going anywhere. These don’t smudge, transfer or move around at all, no matter how oily your little lids are. They really add a pop of something specail to your look and are worth at t he very least a swatch.

Go Extreme High Definition Lip Lacquer*

These are another range of products that I am particularly excited about. The Lip Lacquers are soft, slightly mousse-y but super hydrating. They are glossy without being sticky, or slimey and I would compare them to NYX Butter Gloss but with a touch more pigment and more longevity. The smell and taste is slightly chemical, which isn’t my favourite, but the comfort factor it is biggest redeeming feature and gets it over the line. The packaging is super cute and the applicator works really well. Although these are marketed as a lip lacquer, I would describe them more as a hydrating lip gloss.  I am interested to see what other shades are available in the range.

One Step Closer Lip Crayon Bar *

These little babies seriously surprised me. My experience with lip crayons are usually very balm and sheer formulas that are perfect for over the top of liquid lipsticks etc. But these are suuuuuuuper pigmented while still being balmy and glossy. They are so pigmented that they act like a lip stain as well. Again, there are really comfortable on the lips.

Are you as excited as I am for Touch In Sol’s new website and colour cosmetics to launch? What do you have your eye on?

Until next time,

Camille x

Manuka Doctor Purifying Facial Peel Review

I have been really loving skincare lately, it is something that I have only recently started experimenting with. My skin has always been a bit of a worry for me, I suffer with the odd blemish but my biggest concern is blackheads and large pores. I have always been envious of people with beautifully smooth skin, mine always has these little bumps here and there, and nothing I have tried has fixed this. My favourite skincare item has got to be facial masks. They target specific problems and give your face a good thorough treatment. Plus it gives you an excuse to take some time to yourself.

Manuka Doctor’s Purifying Facial Peel has been getting some hype over on Instagram lately, and when I saw it on sale in Priceline I had to give it go. I had a quick read in-store and the mask sounded like it was right up my alley. I have tried peel-off masks in the past and they were really painful to take off, however the reviews on this were great, so I took the plunge. Recommended for congested skin, this skin clearing mask works well on blemishes, blackheads and sun damaged skin as it lifts dead skin cells, stimulates cell renewal and purifies pores promoting a radiant and glowing complexion, leaving skin plumped & silky soft. The Purifying Facial peel includes a range of active and nourishing ingredients including – Bee Venom, Manuka Honey, Kaolin, Hyaluronic Acids, Vitamin E and various fruit extracts and botanicals.

The formula is thick, sticky and bright white, with a subtle fruity scent. I was a little bit hesitant to smear this on my face due to the feel of the product, it was a little difficult to spread out due to the tackiness of the mask. But once it was on it dried really quickly. The instructions do say to leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes, however I felt the mask lifting after about 10 minutes. I was a little apprehensive to peel of the mask in case it hurt, but it didn’t at all. The mask peeled off almost effortlessly. My skin felt soft and fresh and looked so radiant. I followed the mask up with a toner and night cream and when I woke up the next morning my skin was still glowing and looks oh-so healthy. I have only used this mask 3 times and haven’t noticed any decrease in blemishes or blackheads.

Overall I think it is a great mask for a deep clean. I find peeling off the mask a little cathartic and really enjoy the benefits of using it. I have never used anything from the Manuka Doctor brand before, and this was a great introduction.

Have you used this before? Did you love it as much as I did? If you have any recommendations for my little bumps and blackheads, I’d love to hear them.

It’s a Brow Off

Brows are everything.

Most days I brush my brows before I brush my hair. Needless to say I have a huge amount of brow products – gels, powders, fibres, pomades, pencils you name it. I am constantly on the search for my HG. But man, I am indecisive. Some days I like a super defined bold brown and other days I like simple and natural. So my favourite brow product varies from day to day. Fibre Gels however, are great for both looks. They are easily brushed on for an everyday look, or layered over powder or pencil for more depth and to set in place. These little tubes of magic are used daily by me and have to be my favourite type of brow product. I have used Benefit’s Gimme Brow religiously  for about 18 months but it really hurts my wallet to re-purchase. So when I found that other brands were creating similar products, I had to give them a go. These are tubes that I have trialled recently, and here are my thoughts…

Benefit – Gimme Brow in Light Medium (AUD $39)
The OG of fibre gels. This little guy has been of Holy Grail status to me for such a long time. But it does retail on the more expensive side of things. Taken from the Benefit website “This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin & hair…creating brows where before there were none. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending and a precision tip for shaping.”
The packing is the smallest out of the bunch, which is disappointing due to the price. But the brush is perfection, It is super tiny and tapered making it really easy to apply. Mistakes are hard to come-by with Gimme Brow.

The formula is full of pigment and very cool toned. It also quite thick and dries in a couple of minutes, longevity is crazy and the formula is definitely water resistant.

Gimme Brow leaves my brows fuller and defined. The colour pay off is great and looks really natural. Mistakes are easily corrected and instantly set in place.

This guy has cult status for a reason. It works like a treat, filling, defining and setting my brows. It looks really natural, is a breeze to use and lasts all day. The only throwback as mentioned is the price, but the little tube does last for quite a while.

Innoxa – Brow Enhancer in Ash Blonde (AUD$26.95)
Innoxa have really stepped up their game lately; They have been releasing really innovative and quality products that are really reasonably priced. Innoxa describes the Brow Enhancer as “a tinted gel containing tiny hair particles to help fill and shape any hair gaps within the brows and instantly enhance your natural brow. Contains Widelash™ a powerful active that helps to thicken and condition the hair. Contains cucumber extract to help refresh & hydrate the skin. ” I had to do a little more research on what Widelash is and I found that it is an active ingredient that fortifies the hair fibre and increases hair production. You can read more about it here. Furthermore, Innoxa is an Australian owned company that is 100% cruelty-free and dermatologically tested. Which, as you know, are big winners are in my books.

Packing is stock-standard when it comes to brow fibre gels. It’s small and compact with a metallic lid. But most importantly the spoolie is a great small size, making it super easy to apply without mess or mistakes.

This formula is the most unusual out of the 4 gels. It is quite wet and transparent with obvious darker fibres. The colour is cool toned, but slightly warmer than Gimme Brow. It dries really quickly and stays put all day.

Due to the transparency of the product, it is really easy to build up from natural to bold brows. If a mistake is made, it is easy to wipe away . After the product is set it lasts all day and my brows are set into shape.

I really like Innoxa Brow Enhancer. I find that it is the most natural looking of the gels, has the most fibres and easiest to use. I love it for me, but others may not like that the brow fibres are darker than the gel. Due to the formula being only slightly tinted, I use a brow powder to fill out my brows before using this to boost and set my brows.

Essence – Make Me Brow in Browny Brown (AUD$5.10)

Essence Cosmetics can be really hit and miss, but when they’re good, they are really good. The stand in Priceline does look cheap and nasty, which does reflect the price of the products but definitely not the quality. A few of my all time favourite items are from Essence. Essence describes Make Me Brow as a 3-in-1 colour, fill and shape. Coloured eyebrow gel with fibres for naturally fuller-looking brows.

Once again packing is the same as the previous 2. Make Me Brow is really small and compact and the brush is only slightly bigger than Gimme Brow and it is also tapered for a good fit.

The formula is quite wet and watery with no obvious fibres when swatched. The colour is super cool toned, almost bordering on grey and can be a bit patchy at times. It takes quite a while to dry and set completely, but once set, my eyebrows stay in place all day.

Although the formula doesn’t seem up to scratch when swatched, it actually applies to the brow quite well and the result is really nice. It dries hard, which some people don’t like, but I actually love – I know they are in place all day when they are set like concrete, haha.

I really thought this was going to be a miss. However, it does the job pretty well. Granted it is not as good as Innoxa or Benefit but it is really comparable. For the price, Make Me Brow is a great little gel to have in amongst your makeup collection.

Chi Chi – Fibre Brow in Medium Brown(AUD$19.95)

Chi Chi is a really reliable, home-grown brand that are creating really exciting products. Chi Chi is innovative and has their finger on the pulse of up and coming beauty products.  They recently released a brow range which I have really been enjoying. Their brow pomade is comparable to, if not better than, Anastasia Beverly Hills. Blog post to follow shortly. Right now let’s talk about their Brow Fibre. Chi Chi explain that the Brow Fibre “ colour corrects, fills in gaps and helps create perfect eyebrows with a natural looking finish.”

Chi Chi’s packaging is all black – I would prefer it to be the matching colour of the gel, to make it easier fining it when you own more than one colour. The brush is probably the most similar to Gimme Brow. It is small and tapered, making it the perfect size for the brow.

The formula is really opaque, definitely the most pigmented of the 4. It’s not as watery as Innoxa and Essence, and it’s a really creamy sort of consistency, but this does make it take a little longer to dry. There are no obvious fibres when swatched on the hand, but they can be seen while applying it to the brows. Similar to the rest, the longevity is great and the brows stay in place all day.

The colour pay off is crazy, so I’ve learnt to go in a little more light-handed with this one. Because of this I find it easy to overboard and make mistakes. But because it takes a little longer to dry, it is super simple to clean up. Brows are defined, fuller and set hard.

I really like the formula and brush of the Chi Chi Brow Fibre. I will purchase this in a lighter, better suited shade, which I hope will cut-down the amount of mistakes I have made with the medium brown. Chi Chi have once again created a winning, reasonably priced, high quality product.

Each of these Brow Fibre Gels have pros and cons. I like Benefit and Chi Chi for the formula and brush size, Innoxa for the amount of fibres and for natural looking brows and  I like Essence for the price tag. I believe many other brands such as Model Co have also created similar products and can’t wait to give them a test drive as well.

Have you used fibre gels? What is your favourite?

Thanks for reading.
