Favourites – it has certainly been a while, but it;s about damn time I updated my readers with a few noteworthy prodz. Favourites include MooGoo, Tarte, Total Face Group, MAC and Becca Cosmetics.

Hello my little beauty babes,

Favourites – it has certainly been a while, but it;s about damn time I updated my readers with a few noteworthy prodz. While I’ve been off birthing a small child and thus needing to care for the wee child, I haven’t had a great deal of time to trial and discover new products, and my needs have changed slightly, but there definitely has been some standouts.

picture of said child, Louie

I have had quite a few people ask what I have been using lately on my skin. Now, not to blow my own trumpet (toot toot), but my skin is probably looking the best it ever has; I don’t know whether pregnancy/ post-partum hormones are to thank, or whether somehow the combination of sleep deprivation and constant lactation is making my skin fresh AF (the latter is incredibly doubtful) but damn, it is looking good. Surprisingly enough, I really haven’t been using much at all. If the wee child allows me time to actually give my skin some loving, I will give my skin a treat with some Kiehls Creamy Avocado Under Eye Cream, and a splash of The Aurae Beauty Boost Serum. Otherwise, shamefully enough, I smear on my face whatever Moo Goo Skin Milk Udder Cream is left on my hands after giving Louie an after bath massage #mumlife.  I have used this moisturiser on my body and hands for almost 10 years, always having a tube in my handbag. But never have I consistently used it on my face. With the high quality and beautiful ingredients in Skin Milk it isn’t surprising that it works so well.  Moo Goo lover for life.

Also, for the mums out there – if you’ve never used Moo Goo before, I would HIGHLY recommend their products for your little person. I could go on and on about the products, but if you head over to their website, you’ll see for yourself why I have had a decade long love-affair with Moo Goo, and why it is the only skincare brand that I would dare use on my little Louie. (Not sponsored in the slightest – while I have received PR gifts from Moo Goo before, I have also spent a small fortune on their milky goodness).

Current skin situation, thanks to Moo Goo and an Ultraceuticals Mandalic Peel. Tired eyes courtesy of Louie.

On the subject of skincare, I also want to mention a favourite experience of the last month, an amazing peel that I received a few weeks ago. I was kindly gifted an Ultraceuticals Mandalic Peel* by Total Face Group in Chatswood. As a relative newbie to the Ultraceuticals range, it was an absolute pleasure to be able to experience a peel first hand. Marguerite, my lovely therapist, talked me through the process, products and active ingredients – which I found ridiculously helpful (I now have a new obsession with Niacinamide) Ultraceuticals is definitely a brand I want to explore a little bit more and I really want to take some time out for myself more regularly and get frequent facials.

I never thought that I’d see the day where I would be reaching for a powder over a liquid foundation, but between rocking a baby to sleep, guzzling your 784th (cold) coffee of the day, cleaning baby vomit off your dress and trying to ignore that nagging voice of anxiety that comes with taking a newborn child out in the world, there isn’t a whole lot of time to doll yourself up in the morning.  So something quick, easy and one-hand friendly is at the top of my list. Enter Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. This stuff is no joke.  With a quick swirl of this on a big fluffy brush, my imperfections are covered, skin tone is evened and I’m looking less and less like a corpse by the minute. The finish is beautiful and natural, it doesn’t transfer when I rub my face all over my delicious smelling baby and it last ALL DAMN DAY.

If you bear with me, I’m going to have a detailed review of these brand-new products published shortly, but I have to mention these bad boys in my current favourites. Becca have recently launched the Bright Eyes Collection consisting of an Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer*, their best-selling and my all time favourite Under Eye Brightening Corrector, and the Under-Eye Brightening Setting Powder*. This three step range works fabulously at smoothing, hydrating, blurring and colour correcting the under-eye area. Pre-baby I had no issues with dark circles, but now I need to spend a little more time concealing and brightening the area. Although the 3 steps may seem time consuming, I promise it is worth it. The end result certainly brightens and covers, and the area doesn’t crease nor does it look cakey or powdery, giving me the most natural finish I’ve seen from a corrector yet. Stay tuned for a product break down and a more in-depth chat about these products soon.

The last thing I want to mention is another product that helps to make me look less corpse like, I see a theme here… MAC recently released the Bold & Bad Lash Mascara* and man, is it good one. I never though I’d be raving about a $42 mascara – especially if you saw my Instagram post about the new Benefit mascara. I honestly believe that drug-store mascaras do the job well for a fraction of the price. Buttttt, I love this and have been reaching for this over all my other mascaras for a month or so now. The formula is on the drier side (which I prefer), but it coats the lashes so damn well. My lashes are lengthened, thickened and even hold a curl like you wouldn’t believe. I find that this formula is easily built up, too. Plus, this clever little number is dual-wanded, so the mini wand is great for lower lashes, getting in tight to the water-line and also combing through the lengths. I promise I wouldn’t tell you about an exy mascara if it wasn’t worth the money.

That’s it, kids.

Until next time,

Current Favourites (Life Update)

Hello 🙂

It has been a while. While I have been busting to blog,  finding the time and energy of late has been a little difficult. I have had 100’s of ideas swirling around and posts writing themselves in my head, but when I finally tried to put fingers to keyboard I would lose all sorts of cognitive function and become a drivelling mess. But there is a really good reason for that – I’m pregnant! The first trimester knocked me around a lot and some days it was a struggle just to get out of bed to make a cuppa (even though I would throw that up 10 minutes afterwards…). Combine that with working full-time and house-hunting, our day-to-day life has been a bit all over the place. But, alas, at 19 weeks I am finally feeling like my normal self. Well, as normal as you can feel with a small child sucking the life out of you.

While I am hoping to continue blogging about beauty products, it makes sense that my ideas of what is important may change and the topics I write about broaden, but I will continue to write with honesty and integrity, keeping my readers in mind. I hope that you will enjoy coming along for the ride in this exciting yet, slightly terrifying time.

Considering a few months have passed, I thought I would jump straight into sharing some of my favourite products.

Gilded Cage Revelation Cream Eyeshadows*

Being incredibly time poor has found me reaching for more practical items. Even though I am on the hunt for more time efficient products, that doesn’t mean I will settle for a poor performing product. My standards are as high as ever and Gilded Cage have delivered the goods. Their cream eyeshadows deliver on pigment, longevity and practicality all while saving me time each morning. The formula applies like a dream and is easily blended out for a polished look. I do need to use an eye-primer with these (as I do for all eyeshadows) to ensure they go the distance without creasing. The shades are gorgeous and allow you to go from work wear, to something a little more smokey. I cannot fault these eyeshadows.

MooGoo Shea Sorbet*

This fabulous thick cream has been saving my skin from the dreaded winter flakiness. While it does take a bit of effort to warm up and make it emulsify, it certainly is worth it. MooGoo Shea Sorbet smells fresh and moisturises like no other. While it is typically meant for cracked heals and super dehydrated skin, I have been smothering it all over my growing body and it has been working an absolute treat. No scaly skin in sight. There is a damn good reason I have been a lover of MooGoo for over 6 years.

Obagi Hydrate Luxe Moisturier*

My poor skin seems to be suffering with winter more than ever. It is a little sensitive and super dehydrated. So instead of my normal gel based moisturiser I have decided to opt for something a bit heavier. I have a lot of trust in Obagi products and tend to revert back to them if I am having a skin issue. I have been using the Hydrate Luxe Moisturiser and it has addressed all my concerns. While this moisturiser is super thick, it absorbs easily and leaves my skin hydrated and happy. I do only use this at night, as I feel it might make me a little greasy throughout the day. It is probably one of the more heavier creams I have ever use, but it is certainly agreeing with my oily mug.

Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield*

I have mentioned Murad a few times on my channels, because I am pretty damn obsessed with their skincare range.  There are a few superstar products and the Invisiblur Perfecting Shield certainly is one of them.  This bad boy blurs out my massive pores and makes my skin feel so damn silky. It sits beautifully under makeup and looks even better without it.  I tend not to wear too much makeup over the weekend and this little bottle of magic has been getting a work out.

NYX Total Control Drops

The hype around these foundation drops are real! The formula is light, but super pigmented. They allow you to customise your coverage without looking too cakey. The foundation blends easily and leaves the skin with a satin but slightly powdery finish. Applying  these drops is an absolute breeze. The longevity is on point and so far I cannot find any flaws.

Burts Bees Complete Nourishment Facial Oil

Another product I have been using to banish the winter skin blues is the Burts Bees Nourishment Facial Oil. This oil is seriously light-weight and easily absorbed. I am able to use this under makeup without a worry and I’ve noticed that it actually makes my under eye concealer sit better. Not only is the formula just heavenly, but the lavender fragrance really adds to the overall experience of the product. This stuff is liquid gold.

Silk’n Revit Diamond Microdermabrasion System*

I would absolutely love to get monthly microderms, they really brighten up my complexion and leave my skin fresh, glowy and plump. But, I cannot justify the price for regular treatments when I have so much going on. Enter the ReVit device. This little at home microdermabrasion really is the next best thing. It is super easy to use and gives me those fresh glowy results I love so much. Plus I can use this whenever I have a spare 10 minutes, in the comfort of my own home. You can even customise the treatment to suit your skin tone, sensitivity and needs. What a winner.  After a few months of use, my skin is looking healthy and clear. No need to fork out each week for professional treatments.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

Oh myyyy sweet lavender jesus, where has this been my whole life? I am a huge believer in the way scents can affect our mood and well being.  This little gem has turned into an absolute must have in my life. The fragrance is soft and instantly calming. It is said to have an almost sedative effect which I can vouch for. My stresses and tensions melt away as soon as I lay down in my lavender and chamomile scented bed. I even keep a little travel spray of this glorious concoction in my handbag to have a sniff whenever work is crushing my will to live.

Hourglass Everything

And lastly, I have been obsessed with everything and anything Hourglass. While these are far from new favourites, they certainly have been getting a work out. The blushes add the most delicious healthy looking glow to my skin without looking too overdone or too unnatural. My personal faves are Mood Exposure – A stunning plummy/mauve shade that would look right at home on any skintone and Brilliant Nude – a very subtle peach that adds the most perfect amount of life to otherwise dull cheeks. The Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light is a daily staple. I use this as the last step of my routine and I dust it lightly over the whole face, it adds a ‘lit from within’ look and makes me so damn glowy and alive looking – I cannot go without out.  I really need to buy the whole Hourglass collection!

Apologies for the couple of stock photos – the blog post took me long enough to write. I gotta ease back into it.

What have you been loving recently?

October ’16 faves

Hi Petals,

I haven’t posted a monthly favourites in a while – soz. I always mention the products that I’m loving, either here or through Instagram, just not always in this format. But,  I thought I’d do a quick round up of my current loves, as there a quite a few. October itself was suuuper busy for me. I moved house, attended heaps of events, went to an engagement party and a concert. I absolutely love this time of the year, things start to get busy, the weather is heating up and things start to feel a bit festive; and now that I am living across the road from the beach,  you’ll catch me there most mornings and afternoons.

The Beauty Chef – Probiotic Skin Refiner

This little bottle of goodness is pure liquid gold. This toner exfoliates, balances the skin all while hydrating your cute little mug. The AHA’s are reaaaaly gentle, so I’ve been using this daily, if not twice. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t effective. My skin is left so seriously smooth, plump and fresh. My face is sporting a new brightness and clarity, which I can thank The Beauty Chef for. I have unfortunately ran out of this little guy, but I will definitely be re-purchasing. Although this toner is a little on the pricey side, I am so happy with the results that it really doesn’t phase me all that much – Plus I love supporting Australian businesses.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in Baci and Caramello

I had noticed these liquid lippies getting around on the ‘gram for a while but had no intention of grabbing them. I was browsing through Mecca at Bondi one day and next thing I know I’m walking out, Mecca bag in hand with two of these little babes coming home with me. But no buyers remorse here, I am sooooo glad I picked these up. The formula is beautiful, quite thin and watery, but super opaque. The colours are jam-packed full of pigment, they’re really long lasting and very comfortable. As for the shades, they’re perfect. Caramello is the most perfect nude that I have been wearing to death. Baci is a delicious subtle mauve-y neutral that I love to wear both during the day and out at night. Very welcomed additions to my liquid lip collection. I have my eye on the shade called Patina as well – If you buy it for me I’ll be your best friend?

Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel

There is a reason why this product is so raved about – it is utter perfection. From the moment I lifted the lid and my eyes fell upon this dreamy chocolatey swirl, I was done for. But then to see how well it performed… well, I was ready to sell all my belongings to fund some sort of  ‘Honey I Shrunk The Kids’ gadget enabling me to live inside this pot of magic for the rest of my life.  But apparently the technology in a 80’s science fiction family film doesn’t exist. Who would have thought? Anyway this bronzer just blends out in the most perfectly natural way, giving the skin a stunning sunkissed glow. I apply this with a damp beauty blender and push it into the areas on my face that the sun hits. It is a much more subtle contour than the ‘instagram look’ which is much more my pace. I adore this. I will buy Soleil Tan De Chanel for evermore. The end.

HEMPME Face Cream*

I am sure you are all familiar with the benefits of Hemp skincare. It is an amazing anti-inflammatory, it is great at hydrating the skin and can even prevent acne with its antibacterial properties. Hempme have created a certified organic face cream that is just heavenly. The moisturiser is really light and absorbs quickly, leaving the skin really hydrated and happy. I even noticed a mattifying effect on my greaseball of face which is a very welcome result. My boyfriend, Kane, has commandeered this now, so I am forever searching for it and fishing it out of his ute/esky/backpack/various manly storage items. I think I’ll have to purchase another and keep it under wraps, so that I’ll actually get to thoroughly use it. I love this face cream.

ONNE Body Balancing Balm*

Yes, yes, so much yes! I love this body moisturiser. It is super hydrating and is perfect for fake tan up-keep. It is rich but absorbs quickly. And the scent makes me want to swing in a shady hammock between a couple of coconut trees, mojito in hand. I love the smell of coconut, but not when it is super sweet and artificial. This is like creamy coconut goodness that you just want to smell forever. I have only recently discovered ONNE, but man, I am impressed.

Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel*

If you’re a regular reader of the blog, you would have read about these little babies a couple of posts back, so I won’t go into too much detail. When my Probiotic Skin Refiner started to run out, I began alternating between it and these Daily Peels. These are really practical and easy to use. My skin is refined, refreshed and silky smooth. I ADORE these. My skin has never looked so good. I cannot stress to you enough how incredible these wipes are.

Bioderma Sensibio Tonique Toning Lotion*

Yes another toner – I must be on a toner binge lately. But unlike the last two in this post, this toner isn’t a treatment, but just your regular humble hydrating toner. As the weather heats up, I like to swipe a toner over my face a couple of times a day to refresh. Bioderma is an incredible brand that is known for its innovative and consistently outstanding performing products and this product certainly fits into that category. Created for sensitive skin, Sensibio Tonique is gentle but full of hydration. It removes any oily build up, soothes the skin and brightens my complexion. I have really been enjoying this little number.

Dusty Girls Mineral Blush in Golden Delicious *

If you read much of my ramblings, you’d be aware that I adore all things MooGoo. I have been a big time lover and user of their products for over 4 years. Without fail, I always revert back to their wholesome, sustainable and just bloody good products. Their make up line Dusty Girls is no different. Although I haven’t used a lot of the colour products, I have used their Earth Cream for years also. I was lucky enough to be invited to a Blogger Lunch and was able to swatch all their cosmetics. And this little beauty caught my eye from the start. The peachy, golden coral shade is my ultimate go-to blush shade. It is a beautiful pop of colour giving the skin a beautiful natural glow. The formula does look a little shimmery in the pan but creates the most stunning sheen across the cheek, subtly highlighting the cheek bone. Also, being a mineral product, it is actually good for your skin and doesn’t block pores and what not. This blush can be used as a stunning natural crease colour for any eye look.  I have been using this little baby daily and I adore the way it looks. If you love natural, sustainable products, that are also Australian made, or if you just love a really gorgeous blush, do yourself a favour and get on to Golden Delicious. I have a code for 15% off on the Dusty Girls website, just enter ‘jointheherd’ at checkout and get your goodies cheaper! Valid until the end of the year. I make no money off this code, just want to share the savings.

Have you used any of these products? What were your monthly faves?

Speak soon my loves,

Camille x

Hello June! It is officially Winter – but boy it doesn’t feel like it. The evenings and morning are finally starting to get cooler but the days are still fairly warm… not that I am complaining. Let’s dive into the products I have been reaching for this month.

IMG_5162 (2)

I was so lucky to be sent a few items from Skinstitut. I had heard so many great things about the brand, but never had the opportunity to try them. I have been using the L-Lactic cleanser, Glycolic Scrub and Even Blend serum for just over a month and I have really been loving them. The cleanser is the perfect addition to my shower. It is gentle yet effective. It removes makeup, exfoliates and refines my skin. My face isn’t left feeling tight or dry afterwards. The scrub is also a welcomed addition to my shower, I have been using this every other day for extra exfoliation. It isn’t too gritty, too creamy or too abrasive, it’s the perfect formula. I love exfoliators and this one really measures up. My skin feels soft, clean and fresh. Winner. The Even Blend Serum is thin and spreads out well. It sinks straight into the skin and is a great boost of moisture while targeting pigmentation. So far I have noticed a slight difference in dark spots and pigmentation, and can’t wait to see the results after more use.

Jade Roller

I am completely obsessed with this little beauty tool. It perfectly combines my love of crystals and cosmetics. The jade roller is used to combat redness, improve skin tone ,encourage lymphatic drainage, eliminate excess toxins and puffy skin all while pushing in skincare, so that you experience the full benefits of the products. Sounds too good to be true, right? Wrong. It definitely delivers. Stay tuned for a detailed blog post about the Jade Roller later in the week.

Scout Cosmetics

I was lucky enough to receive a couple of goodies from Scout Cosmetics. This is a brand that I haven’t previously had any experience with.  Scout is a mineral make-up brand that also created a few skincare items and nail polish. I received the Brow Defining Dust and the Organic Pomegranate and White Tea Rejuvenating Creme. So far I have been reaching for the Brow Defining Dust daily. It is so easy and effortless to apply. Not only does it thicken and define my brows, but it makes them look super natural – Not overdrawn at all. The staying power is great and I have been loving the colour.  I love that it is Australian made, natural and cruelty free. I have only used the Rejuvenating Creme a couple of times, but it is just lovely. It is absolutely perfect for under make up. It is light and sinks into the skin instantly, I can apply my primer and foundation straight away. It leaves my skin hydrated, smooth and fresh. Can’t wait to use this guy a little more.

MooGoo Udder Cream

If you are a regular reader of the blog, you would know that I am pretty damn obsessed with MooGoo. Since the weather has started to turn cold, my skin has really started to suffer. This cream is just perfect. If there was only one moisturiser product that I could use for the rest of my life – It would be this. Not only is it the product that the entire brand was built upon, but it is also a miracle worker. Udder cream works well as a hand cream, body balm, and even a face moisturiser. It sinks in quickly and skin is immediately softer and plumper. Plus it smells so so so good. It is this delicious milky sweet scent that just conjures up feelings and memories of warm baths and snuggly towels. I have about three tubes currently opened and scattered around the house and in my handbag. This is definitely a great addition to your collection and a great introduction to MooGoo.

Weleda – Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash

Another favourite this month has been the Weleda Sea Buckthorn Creamy Body Wash. Firstly the packaging is beautiful and bright – it really stand outs. The body wash is as the name suggests very creamy and hydrating. It lathers up really nicely with this huge burst of a citrus, which is really energizing and uplifting. My skin is left soft, smooth and smelling delicious. Weleda as a brand is only relatively new to me, but I have loved all the products I have used so far. I will be looking into their product range more and trying some other bits and pieces.

Last months favourites seem to be very skincare heavy, but I guess that reflects this time of the year.

Until next time,

Camille x

Brand Spotlight – MOOGOO

IMG_2809It is time for a brand spotlight and what a brand to start off with. Moo Goo has got to be one of my favourite brands ever. I have been using Moo Goo products for about 4 years now, and even though I experiment with other brands, I always find myself coming back again and again. As a note, I’d like to mention that I have purchased all Moo Goo products with my own money, and this is not, by any means, a sponsored post. Moo Goo is a family run business  -Australian made and owned. Using only natural and cruelty free ingredients. No-fuss, high-quality and simple products with values of honesty and integrity makes Moo Goo, to me, such a reliable company, that is always a pleasure to deal with.

“We are an Australian company with an entire range of natural and gentle products that are made with effective ingredients and no gimmicks.” – Taken from the Moo Goo website.

A Moo Goo online order – Such sweet packaging

The packaging is what initially intrigued me. It is adorable and simple, with themes of cattle, milk and grass gracing the bottles; even the outer cardboard packing looking like miniature milk cartons. Ordering online is an absolute breeze and your order arrives in a cow covered box and full of sweet smelling straw. I honestly don’t think I could say a bad word about the products, branding or company. The products do what they’re meant to, contain no nasties and the ingredient list is clearly written.  An off-shoot of Moo Goo is Dusty Girls. Dusty Girls is a make-up line which is founded on the same philosophy of Moo Goo.

Now trying to decide which products are my favourite has been a difficult task, and this constantly changes depending on my needs.  I have decided to highlight some items that I have re-purchased over and over again.

Oil Cleansing Method – Oily Skin

I am a big lover of the oil cleansing method. I have found that nothing removes make-up quite like nourishing oils. I have trialled many different oils, but keep coming back to this one. There are four different cleansers containing specific oils, which are targeted to the different skin types (Oily, Dry, Combination and Normal). The oily skin cleanser contains Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed, Avocado Oil and Rice Bran Oil just to name a few. I generally use this as a pre-wash cleanser/make up remover and also as a stream treatment when my skin is congested. My skin feels toned, moisturised and super clean after Moo Goo and I can thank it for a beautiful natural glow.

Tamanu Oil

I had never come across Tamanu oil before, it’s not a regularly mentioned in any skincare. But after reading up about it, I thought it would be perfect to try on my boyfriend’s acne scarring. Moo Goo’s websites states “Tamanu Oil is now becoming famous for its anti-ageing benefits abased on promotion of new skin and its assistance in repair. Ideal for acne, acne scarring and wound soothing. It is best applied in the evening or under a moisturiser.”  The oil is very distinctive in colour and scent. Tamanu Oil is thick, yellow and very strong smelling but I don’t find it unpleasant. It doesn’t absorb quickly, so it is best applied before bed. So far I have noticed how quickly my blemishes heal and my partner’s scarring doesn’t seem as severe. Stay tuned for some before and after pictures.

MSM Soothing Cream

MSM cream is made from a base of Moo Goo’s Full Cream moisturiser (another fave) with the added benefit of 10% MSM (organic sulphur) which is known for its calming properties. MSM soothing cream is best for sensitive, irritated skin (psoriasis, eczema, sunburn, etc.) but I just use it as a  light moisturiser on my face and body. I feel the soothing qualities on my skin instantly and the cream is quickly absorbed. Issues such as shaving rash, itches and flakey skin are soon cleared up after use. This is a cream that I always have on hand.

Oatmeal Cleansing Bar

I don’t use soap bars generally, I much prefer a body wash – but I had a bright spark a year or so a go.  I thought the Oatmeal Cleansing Bar would be perfect to clean my make-up brushes. The bars are filled with gentle natural oils, milk, honey and ground oatmeal, so as you would imagine they smell delicious. Plus the finely ground oatmeal is perfect to give my brushes a nice deep clean. I just swirl a wet brush around on the bar to create a lather, brush it over my sigma spa glove then rinse. My brushes come up so clean and soft with a slight smell of breakfast.

Earth Cream

Earth Cream is Dusty Girl’s answer to a tinted moisturiser/BB cream. It is light-weight and creates a natural, radiant looking base. Coverage is light-medium as you would expect, and it softens the look of blemishes and evens skin tone. Full of natural ingredients, Earth Cream won’t clog pores or harm the skin, it certainly doesn’t contribute to bad skin. This little guy is perfect on minimal make up days, allowing your skin to breathe but having some coverage at the same time. Definitely a favourite. I haven’t had the opportunity to try too much products from Dusty Girls. The eyeshadows and blushes are on my shopping list. The colours and formulas look amazing.

I am sure you can see how much I love this brand and their products. I am passionate about natural, Australian-made beauty products and Moo Goo ticks all the boxes. Have you used Moo Goo before? What are your favourites?

Love and Lipstick,
