IT Cosmetics CC+Cream Oil Free Matte

If you’ve known me for any length on time, you’d know my undying love for the IT Cosmetics CC+ cream. IT Cosmetics recently dropped a bomb and out of nowhere announced the launch of a brand new Oil Free Matte variation.

I do have oily skin and find in the summer my beloved original CC+ Cream does need a little more powdering to get me through the day and can get a little tacky.  But otherwise, the formula works well. However, I have heard some other babes with oily skin have struggled with the formula not lasting, and those pesky oils start to peek through throughout the day.

This new pore-minimising formula has gotten me a little excited. Let’s just hope it is just as incredible as the original, and that it works even better for those who have struggled with the formula in the past.

What is the CC+ Oil Free Matte?

Developed with plastic surgeons, Your Skin But Better CC+ Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40 delivers color-correcting full coverage, anti-aging skincare and SPF 40 broad-spectrum physical sunscreen—all with a poreless, natural-looking matte finish that lasts! This multitasking, complexion-perfecting breakthrough instantly camouflages skin imperfections including dark spots without creasing or cracking and is clinically tested to reduce shine and control oil for up to 12 hours. It’s also infused with charcoal to detoxify, colloidal clay to absorb oil and tea tree extract to combat blemishes—plus, an advanced anti-aging serum made of hydrolyzed collagen, peptides, niacin, hyaluronic acid, vitamins and antioxidants. You’ll see powerful results instantly and more dramatic results over time

This formula will also be available in 12 shades. It is housed in the same squeezy tube with a pump but in a beautiful blue shade. Sounds incredible, right?

How does the CC+ Oil Free Matte perform?

The foundation applied beautifully. I used a damp beauty blender which allowed the formula to really melt and press into the skin, leaving me with a really natural and even coverage. My initial impression is that it isn’t completely matte – more of a velvet type of finish. My skin feels soft and hydrated without being sticky.  It looks luminous without looking oily, and it feels matte without looking really flat and cakey.  It doesn’t feel tacky nor does it transfer.

For the sake of a review, I didn’t set the foundation (other than a light dusting under the eyes to prevent creasing). I also refrained from using anything glowy and stuck with a matte blush.

How does the Oil Free Matte compare to the original CC+?

While they are very similar, the result is quite different. Firstly, the biggest difference off the bat is the SPF. This matte bad boy has a level of 40 whereas the original boasts a massive 50+ SPF.  The matte version stayed quite luminous and healthy while still controlling any oil. I found that I didn’t need to set the foundation, nor did I feel the need to powder throughout the day.  I also felt that there may be just a touch more coverage than the original. The foundation lasted much better for me than the original but I did find that it can cling to any dry flaky areas of the skin.

In the photo above, I have the Matte on the left side of my face and the original on the right.  The colours are slightly different so it may look a little funny ( I have Light in the Original and Light Medium in the matte). But you can see the difference in the finish between both formulas. After 8 hours my skin was noticeably less shiny on the matte side.

My thoughts

I simply adore the finish. As much as my skin needs a matte foundation, I still love something that gives my skin a little bit of life and radiance. This foundation really gives me the best of both worlds. I feel like IT Cosmetics have really nailed the natural finish. The IT Cosmetics CC+ Oil Free Matte mattified my skin and controlled oil without leaving me with an unflattering flat matte finish.

I found that you can really change the results with what primer you used. A matte primer will boost the longevity of the foundation while really absorbing any oil. Using something more hydrating and illuminating will give you a fresher result, but in turn, affecting the oil control and longevity.

I really love both formulas and feel I will be reaching for this new guy more once the weather warms up. It will allow me to still reap the skincare benefits of the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, while lasting me longer and needing less powdering throughout the day.

If you’re someone who really loves a true matte finish, the Oil Free CC+ cream alone isn’t going to get you there. But with the use of a mattifying primer and a mattifying setting powder, you may just get the result you are after. However, If you teeter more on the normal or dry end of the spectrum, I think the original will still be your best pick, if not even the illuminating version.

Available now in the US. Otherwise, us Aussies will need to wait until it drops into Sephora.com.au late September.

Will you be adding the brand new IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Oil Free Matte to your cart?

Why You Need IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream

Heard all the hype? Wondered what is so good about the IT Cosmtetics CC+ Cream? Click to find out.

I am sure you’ve seen people rave over the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream, and you’ve probably wondered what’s so good about it.  Well, I’m going to tell you why it deserves a place in your daily makeup routine.

IMG_6718

Great coverage. Don’t be fooled by the CC cream label, this isn’t a sheer colour corrector – not even close. The coverage is really good. It hides any imperfections while evening out your skin tone in a flash. The result is a beautiful natural looking base, with a velvety finish that allows you to look polished and awake, without any caking or masking.
It doesn’t feel like your wearing makeup. Although the coverage is bang on, it actually doesn’t feel like you are wearing any makeup. It is lightweight, non-sticky and doesn’t transfer. The foundation also doesn’t crease or crack throughout the day. Which means less time is needed to retouch and more time for activities.
You get the benefits of anti-aging skincare.  IT Cosmetics products are created in such a way that it is a skincare treatment first, and a colour cosmetic second. By focusing on soothing, treating and hydrating means that your skin will be benefiting daily from nourishing ingredients instead of your pores being blocked, and your skin getting irritated.  So, essentially you are wearing a nourishing moisturiser and anti-aging treatment with a dose of pigment added at the end to cover and conceal.  This specific formula contains collagen, peptides,  hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and vitamins A,B,C and E.
It contains 50+ SPF.  Being in Australia especially, this is an absolute must in your daily foundation. The biggest anti-ageing treatment is prevention. What better prevention is there than a 50+ SPF that is automatically built into your foundation. The other upside of this is that the SPF is completely physical which means you’ll get absolutely no flashback. Between that and the formula being sweat and water resistant, you will be prepared for anything.
It works on all skin types. I don’t what sorcery has gone into the CC+ cream but along with all those benefits listed above, it works on every skin type. Whether you are dry or oily, you can make this foundation work for you. Depending on what kind of finish you prefer, you might have to set it with powder for something more matte. Otherwise dry, combo and oily babes alike will swoon over this baby.

IMG_6719

I know that the shade range is limited, but I have been assured by the IT Cosmetics educator, that any skin tone will be able to make the shades work. Plus, a little birdy told me that new shades will be released in September.

Have I convinced you yet? It is in stock now but be quick, this bad boy sells out fast. And, believe me, once it is sold out Australia-wide it takes foreverrrr for a restock.

April Favourites

Hello!

I took an unintentional blogging break for the month. I was away on holidays and time just seemed to get away from me. But I’m back with a re-energised vigour. So let’s jump head first into my April Favourites.

OtterBox X Swarovski Phone Case*

My phone is basically glued to my right hand, so it’s no question that it occasionally takes a tumble. Previously I would wince, reach down and  pray that my most prised possession was still intact.  Now I don’t have this concern. Not only are Otterbox phone cases the gold standard when it comes to phone protection, but this particular collab makes my little heart sing.  Covered in swarovski crystals, you could say that my phone’s highlight is on point. Usually phone covers that protect like this are big, bulky and frankly, unattractive but this ticks all the boxes.

Urban Decay Ultimate Pair Lip Kits *

Finally a lip-kit of incredible quality and for a reasonable price. I already adore Urban Decay’s Vice lipstick range, but these little duos are just fabulous. There’s no second guessing about which lip-liner suits best; it’s already perfectly packaged up for you in the one little box.  I just wish there was more of a selection of shades.

IMG_9306 (1)

It Cosmetics Superhero Palette*

I was gifted this palette at the start of the year, but never really got around to playing with it all that much. But I have been using this a whole heap lately. The formula is just something else. Buttery, blendable and super pigmented, these eye-shadows are even enhanced with anti-aging skincare benefits to nourish the eyelid. This palette is so user friendly and provides a good range of versatile shades that would suit almost any skin tone and eye colour. This little baby is landing at Sephora soon, but is limited.

IMG_7924

Revlon Eye Art

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve probably have seen these little guys featuring in my MOTD images.  They are STUNNING! They are a cream eyeshadow, glitter liner combo that actually works. The formula is simply gorgeous. The creams just glide on, deliver an incredible amount of pigment, all while being super blendable. Although the glitter doesn’t work too well as a liner, it is lovely when tapped on and blended out for a injection of sparkle. Both formula’s don’t stray or fade once dry – BIG BONUS! My oily little eyelids usually don’t agree with cream eyeshadows, but I have been just loving these for a little something extra.

IMG_5792

Nars Velvet Lip Glide in Playpen

Nars Velvet Lip Glides are next level! They combine the best of both worlds, by providing long lasting colour all while given your lips a little loving. It’s well known that liquid lipsticks can be quite harsh on the lips and that normal glossy formulas usually aren’t long lasting.  But these have changed the game. Once applied my lips feel buttery, but not too sticky and pack a pigment punch. After a few hours the glossy finish does diminish, but the formula acts like a kind of stain, which allows that pigment stick around. The shade I have is Playpen which is a pinky nude that is perfect for easy, daily wear. I have heard that the darker shades of this line can be a little patchy.

IMG_9331

Bobbi Brown Havana Brights*

This is heaven, or should I say Havana, in a palette. My goodness! I cannot express to you enough just how gorgeous this little number is. Encased in a fabulous neon coral case, this palette sure is pleasing to the eye. Inside is the most stunning cheek trio including a bronzer, blush and highlight. The shades add a beautiful natural glow to the face and the formula is super blendable and stays true the Bobbi Brown incredibly high standard.  I took this little baby away with me recently and favoured using this as eyeshadow as well.  Such a perfect, versatile little palette.

That’s it.

Hope you had a fabulous April and you can look forward to a few more blog posts this month.

Take care,

Camille

Best Beauty Tools in the Biz.

I am super passionate about good quality beauty tools. I think the saying ‘you’re only as good as the tools you use’ rings true, even when it comes to beauty. You can have the highest quality foundation, but if you apply it with a ratchet scratchy foundation brush, it will always be patchy and streaky – And vise versa. Use a high quality sponge or brush and your drugstore foundation will look like an airbrushed dream.

Here is a run down of my favourite brushes and brands.

fullsizerender-3

The best brush kits and basics – Zoeva

These brushes and flippin’ magical. Seriously. A couple of years ago I invested in two Zoeva brush sets and I never looked back. These babies have lasted insanely well. They are as dense, in-shape and effective as the day I first got them. While these aren’t the most expensive or inexpensive brushes on the market, I personally believe they perform the best. The Complete Eye Set and the the Vegan Face Set would be ideal places to start, but I do have my all-time favourites as well. Oh, and they come in a range of finishes to match your vanity 😉

The 234 Luxe Smokey Shaper brush is perfect for patting on an eyeshadow with high pigment or shimmer. It transfers the shadow perfectly and is great for laying down any base eyeshadow.

The 244 Luxe Defined Crease Brush  has completely changed my eyeshadow game. It fits perfectly into the crease of my hooded eyes and blends out eyeshadow like a dream. It really allows me to add depth and dimension to my crease subtly, and allows product build up without going over board. This is seriously my #1 when it comes to a smoky eye. I think it is a fantastic brush for a beginner, because you cannot go wrong with this little gem.

The 228 Crease Brush is ideal for blending out your finished eye look. It a lovely tapered fluffy brush that diffuses your dark outer corner and blends all shows together to complete the look. I can create a whole eye look just with this trusty brush alone.

The 322 Brow Liner seriously changed the way I did my eyebrows. I remember trying for months to get my eyebrows on point with the ABH Dip Brow, but I just could not get the results I desired. When I got this baby in brush set, it changed everything. The pomade applied perfectly and I was able to get a really defined line. To this day, it is still my go-to brow brush.

Best Base tool – The Beauty Blender

Hands down the best beauty tool in the biz. This little squishy tear drop of magic blends like nothing else. While is does tend to sheer out foundations a touch, it makes your base melt into your skin and prevent the dreaded mask effect. It is great to use after a brush application of foundation as well, to even out and ensure no streaky coverage. I use my BB everyday, without fail. Not only for foundation but for creme blush and contour, and liquid illuminisers. It has been replicated a fair bit, and there are great inexpensive options, but the original will always be my pick. I do prefer the black pro version too, purely because of the colour.

IMG_9322.JPG

Most practical and unique – The Beauty Exchange*

This is the best idea I have seen in a long time. The bottom of these gorgeous brushes are magnetic and stand ever so stylishly in the rectangle stand.  Not only do they add a little chicness to your vanity but they are great quality and really practical, too. The brush range isn’t huge, but the tools they do have are fabulous. I particularly love the  stumpy little kabuki brush, which is lovely and dense and super soft.  Perfect for blending out powders and making things look seamless.  I also really love the Foundation Buffer Brush which is oh-so perfect for …you guessed it, buffing out foundation. But also the size is great for getting in around the nose and chin area to reduce caking and patchiness.

 IMG_4324

Best base and cheek brushes – IT Cosmetics*

Even by just looking at IT Cosmetics brushes you can tell how soft and luxurious they are going to be. I was kindly gifted a gorgeous set of these brushes and have been on the hunt for more since. The Heavenly Luxe Flawless Foundation Brush is the most perfectly dense foundation brush I’ve ever used. It is a great size to effortlessly blend out product, and the brush hairs are so soft and leave a gorgeous even finish.

I pick my Heavenly Luxe cheek brush over most of my other brushes to apply blush. The size is perfect to add pigment to the apples of my cheeks, and the shape is perfect for blending out and diffusing.  The bristles pick up just enough product to disperse enough pigment.

IMG_5682

Best affordable options

 Platinum*

These shiny guys have only recently landed at Beauty Bender HQ , but it was love at first sight. I love the gun-metal gray aesthetic and love that they don’t have a wooden handle. These brushes are super soft and are actually weighted better than other more expensive alternatives. I honestly cannot pick a favourite out of the brushes that I own. Platinum Brushes are definitely comparable to IT Cosmetics, but for a fraction of the price. Would you believe that these gorgeous little things are available from Woolworths exclusively? Get on to it ladies.

IMG_3157

 Eco Tools*

Eco tools make some really great quality beauty tools. They have recently updated their range with new handles and new brush styles. I am currently obsessed with the ECO Tools Sheer Powder Brush. With its soft bristles and tapered shape, I have been using this little dude for dusting away translucent powder used for baking. Eco Tools also have great brush sets in Priceline, usually with dual ended brushed that are so practical and perfect for travel, but not sparing on the quality.  Eco Tools have recently released some new Beauty Sponges too, which look great for baking. I’ve been keeping a keen eye out for these little green babies.

Nude By Nature

Nude By Nature just keep coming out with the goods, whether it be cosmetics or tools, they are really ahead of the drugstore game at the moment. I only have a few of their brushes, but I adore what I do have. The Ultimate Perfecting Brush is absolutely fabulous! The shape and density is great for adding a shadow underneath your cheekbone. It fits into the contours of the face perfectly and delivers product like a dream. It fits in my hand comfortably and feels oh-so soft.  I also love the BB Brush* to spread out sheerer foundations. It applies and blends product really well without to much tugging and dragging across the skin.

IMG_4323

Natio*

I have a fab little brush from Natio that I have been loving for quite a while now. It’s a dual ended foundation and concealer brush that is so handy. I actually love using this brush for dabbing on under-eye concealer. It is the perfect size and shape to gently pat on product and then blend out. I also take this brush with me in my handbag to touch up through the day. It really is a great option for an inexpensive price.

IMG_4322

Best luxe – Real Tech Bold Metals

I’m not going to pretend that these brushes don’t cost an arm and a leg, but man, just look at these pieces of art. They are weighted perfectly and I just feel so glamorous just using them. I especially love the rose gold cheek brushes which really work well with bronzers and blushes. Do you need these highly priced babies? Not really, no. But they sure are pretty.

Most gorgeous – Vani-T*

This brush doesn’t need many words to sum up why I love it. I mean, just look at it. Apart from being eye-catching and deliciously luxe, the dual ended brush is beautifully soft and works like a charm. I NEED the whole set of these bad boys.
