Superfoods have been making headlines in the health industry for years, but only recently has the concept been adopted by the beauty industry.

Youth To The People have pioneered the way when it comes to incorporating health and lifestyle into beauty products. The line is founded on the idea that what you apply to your skin should be as nourishing and wholesome as what you eat. Taking the concept of a beautiful cold-pressed green juice and turning that into skincare. Combining both superfoods and science, YTTP boast formulas that are 100% vegan, fragrance-free, cruelty-free and packaging that is 100% recyclable. So not only are the products perfected through science, but they are also high-quality with a huge social conscience.

I have been trialling three of Youth To The People’s most popular products and thought I would share my thoughts and see if they live up to their claims.

Kale and Green Tea Spinach Vitamins Age Prevention Cleanser *

This is where the green juice concept is most obvious; just look at those hero ingredients, and that colour! The product is housed in a beautiful glass bottle and really looks gorgeous sitting in the shower or on the vanity.

Packed with antioxidant-rich kale, spinach, green tea, and alfalfa, Youth to the People Age Prevention Cleanser keeps your skin glowing and protects against free radical damage, environmental stresses, and redness. It’s gentle and non-drying, so your skin is left feeling refreshed and clean. Use it daily to prevent buildup in pores, while keeping your skin balanced and healthy-looking.

The formula is as you’d expect from the colour, it is fresh, light and refreshing. True to form, it doesn’t foam up all that much, as it is gel cleanser, which I like as I find foaming cleanser generally make my skin feel dry and tight. Although it is free from added fragrance, there is a slight subtle hint of fresh fruity-ness but it is a nice bonus.

The YTTP Age Prevention Cleanser leaves my skin feeling super soft, fresh and clean. It removes dirt and makeup like a dream and it really is a pleasure to use.  After over a months use, I can say that this is a hardworking but simplistic cleanser. It is practical but doesn’t produce any hard hitting results. Instead it is a reliable cleanser that without fail leaves skin bright, clean and super fresh. I noted that my skin didn’t dry out, nor was it left feeling greasy. It balanced my skin and did a great job at keeping it clean.

Spirulina and Microalgae Kale and Spinach Age Prevention Superfood Mask*

The colour of this mask instantly makes me think of a bitter green, but oh-so healthy green juice. This mask is meant to be suitable for all skin tones and targets, yep, you guessed it, fine lines and aging.

Age Prevention Superfood Mask feeds your skin with the best superfoods—sea greens, spirulina, and bioactive microalgae combined with a proprietary blend of kale, spinach, and green tea. This powerful formula delivers age-fighting antioxidants, phytonutrients, essential amino acids, vitamins, and minerals to protect from free radicals and support natural turnover. Crosslinked hyaluronic acid keeps you fresh by visibly plumping, hydrating, and locking in moisture for a youthful-looking complexion.

The Superfood mask feels and looks like a rich heavy duty mask. The scent is much stronger than the cleanser and smells quite earthy and herb-y. The formula spreads best with a brush as it is quite thick. As soon as I applied the mask to my face, I felt a cold slightly stinging sensation – which I’m not worried about, in fact I quite like it, but I would imagine it would be intense for those sensitive skin gals. I like to layer the mask on quite thick, so it does take a little while to dry and it continues to give off a cooling feeling the whole time.

After the mask is washed off, my skin looks ahhhhhmazing. My pores seem to be minimised and any active acne is definitely lessened and any redness is gone.  I wouldn’t agree with the claims that the mask locks in moisture, as my skin feels a little dry and is in need of a hydration top up afterwards. Overall it is a fabulous mask, but I think it is more suited to normal to oily skin types.

Kale and Spinach Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Moisture Cream*

Whoa, what a mouthful. Again, sticking to the anti-ageing theme, this moisturiser focuses on plumping the skin, while treating fine lines and wrinkles.

Packed with leafy green superfoods like spinach, kale, and green tea, Youth to the People’s multi-benefit moisture cream restores, rejuvenates, and conditions the skin. The light, whipped texture absorbs quickly to deliver antioxidants and phytonutrients that protect against free radicals, environmental stresses, and redness. Hyaluronic acid hydrates and locks in your skin’s natural moisture. The refreshing, subtle scent is naturally derived from cold-pressed extracts.

This cream isn’t really a cream at all. The formula has a light, gel-like consistency and is a gorgeous minty green that has a similar scent as the cleanser. This is easily my favourite pick of the bunch. The moisturiser melts in after 15 seconds, it is light but certainly packs a punch. My face looks instantly brighter and fresh, and not to mention it is super smooth and noticeably more plump. I do think however, that it may not be the best match for dry skin, as I don’t think it would be rich nor  hydrating enough.

Overall, while I really do love all the products, and think the concept behind it is fabulous. I don’t find the products to be too revolutionary as far as results go. Butttttt if you are health conscious and a bit of a foodie, I think this range would be absolutely ideal and a great addition to your skincare regime.

Until next time,

Camille x

January Favourites

The first month of 2017 is done and dusted – whoa, calm down. I have managed to try quite a few new products this month and have discovered some absolute winners.

Let’s do this.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation

I have had this foundation for a little while, but it just wasn’t 100% sold on it. It didn’t blow me away, it applied patchy and streaky, and to be completely honest, I regretted ever buying it. But I persevered, not wanting to waste it and now after much more use, and a whole lot of trial and error, I really like it. I find that a hydrating, moisturiser like primer works best, as well as using a buffing brush to blend out. I also try to pat it down with a damp Beauty Blender to really make it uniform and streak-free. But the biggest thing I have found, which is really weird, the hotter the day and more oily I am, the better this foundation looks. Which is way I have been loving it so much this month – Sydney has been an inferno. The combination of the powdery finish and my natural oils, results in something magical. My skin looks super glowy, flawless and not in the least bit cakey. It does seems to break up around my nose at around the 8 hour mark, but in this heat what foundation wouldn’t.

Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse in Ultra Dark*

Sweet baby cheeses, where has this Tan been all my life? It has got to be the most natural, streak-free, long-lasting tan I have ever rubbed into my limbs. I received so many compliments on my tan, everyone thought I was fresh from a tropical holiday. The colour is just gorgeous and blends so well into the skin. It dries quickly and doesn’t leave any sticky or tacky feeling. Plus there is only the smallest amount of fake tan scent,  that I only noticed once I was marinating in bed.  The tan lasted just over a week and just slowly faded away. I have finally found my holy grail tan. Now I understand why everyone raves about, and it is with good reason. If you haven’t tried Loving Tan, do yourself a huge favour and get it all over body now!

This photo was taken about 4 days after application and it is still so dark

The Peach Box*

I have always been a silver or white gold die hard, I would have never imagined wearing, or being so in love with these rose gold pieces.  I really wanted the same watch and bangle, but in silver, when I saw that they were sold out, I took the rose gold risk and it has definitely paid off. I mean, just look at how aesthetically pleasing they are. I get compliments left, right, and centre when my wrist is adorned in this gorgeous sparkly rose golden icing.  The Peach Box have the most simplistic, but classy jewellery pieces and I certainly have a few more items on my wishlist, and they currently have a 20% off sale. So tempting…

Colette Earrings

Speaking of all things rose gold, I have been loving these teeny weeny earrings from Colette this month. They are so simple, but add a beautiful little touch to my earlobes. Plus they work so so so well with my Peach Box goodies and I  have been wearing all three pieces to death. I love that they are a little different, but so simplistic at the same time.

Scunci Sailors Knot Comfy Headband*

Bit of a different favourite, but I’ve been trying to be as active as I can lately and this little baby has been a god-send. I like to go for a walk along the beach first thing in the morning, and this super soft headband covers up my bed hear and keeps my hair out of my face. Plus it is really cute with the knot detail, so I feel a little bit more stylish going and grabbing a coffee too.

Luxe Fitness Fat-Burning Protein Powder*

I am really fussy when it comes to protein powders, really fussy. I hate anything gritty, overly sweet, artificial tasting or full of sugar. The amount of powders I have purchased, hoping to be different is ridiculous. But finally I have found it, I have found my holy grail of protein powder. The vanilla flavour is amazing. It actually tastes like vanilla, isn’t too sickly sweet and mixes in perfectly. I have been enjoying this mixed with a banana, ice, milk and a touch of cinnamon every morning and it is delicious. If you are anything like me and hate anything too sweet, this protein powder is for you.

Bare Minerals Gen Nude Collection*

The latest offering from Bare Minerals is a dream for any nude lover, nude-coloured lips that is 😉 The Gen Nude collection  was released at Mecca on the 31st. But I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak. The formula is just gorgeous and oh-so comfortable. They don’t dry down completely matte, which makes for happy, flake-free lips. Due to the creamy formula, they aren’t as long-lasting as other liquid lipsticks but that doesn’t bother me in the slightest. These puppies have lived in my purse since the moment I got them and I can’t wait to get my paws on some more. You will definitely want to get in-store and swatch the flip out of these nude wonders.

Linda Mereditch VTOX*

I  have been using VTOX, Linda Meredith’s natural alternative to Botox, for a few months now. I really reaaaaaally like it. I use it at night under my moisturiser and it honestly feels like little needles on my skin, so that must mean it is working, right? Haha. It isn’t uncomfortable, nor does the sensation last too long. I have noticed a fresher appearance in the morning, plumper skin and a reduction in the fine lines near my eyes. I really love that it is a natural product. It is full of peptides and algae which assist in preventing muscle contractions that cause fine lines and wrinkles. The cream is fairly rich but is easily absorbed into the skin and leaves minimal residue. I can see why it has such a reputation in the beauty and celebrity world.

Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Bold Liquid Lipstick *

How are these not spoken about more?! They are an absolute staple in any lipstick lovers collection.  Unlike your normal liquid lipstick, these are creamy and super hydrating. Not too glossy and not too sticky, these little babies are so comfortable to wear, but really pigmented at the same time. The applicator is really fun too, it is a clicky pen style wand with a soft velour cushion on top, that provides the most effortless application. I would highly recommend checking these babies out.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush in First Love

Although this blush resembles a nipple, it is possibly the most gorgeous blush I own. This particular shade is soft and peachy, which adds the most natural glow to your face. It isn’t matte, nor is it shimmery. It just provides a beautiful sheen to the cheeks. The longevity is great and I find that it lasts longer than most other blushes that I use. As with any other CT products, the packaging is just gorgeous and it is an absolute pleasure to use. I would love to get my mitts on a few more of the shades in the Swish & Pop range.

My last favourite of the month is my favourite Christmas present/best surprise ever. His name is Bruce and he is a little blue ball of fun. The little cutie is only 10 weeks old, but has already started talking. He loves snowpeas, being destructive, preening, crackers, chattering away and trying to chew off my freckles. I am a crazy bird lady, so to say I am enamoured with him is an understatement. I am sure you will see much more of him on my social media channels.
