My top 5 HOLY GRAIL products 2018

Although I have quite a large collection of products, there are ones that I reach for over and over again. Tried and tested, the following 5 products are items that I can’t live without (big call, I know)…

*Drum roll*

  1. Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peels

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it until I am blue in the face, the Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Daily Universal Peels have completely changed my skin. I have been absolutely obsessed with these little miracle pads for about 18 months. The patented two-step formula is unlike anything else on the market and it delivers the most effective skin care treatment I have ever used. After using these, my skin is refined, brighter and fresher while my pores look diminished and fine lines reduced. I cannot sing the praises of the Alpha Beta peels enough. I would gladly give up all other skincare products to be able to use these forever… well, these and a touch of moisturiser 😉

2. Fudge Clean Blonde Purple Toning Shampoo

I couldn’t tell you how much tubes of Clean Blonde I have gone through over the years. This shampoo tones my hair like nothing else. Not only that, but it doesn’t dry out my fine hair, nor does it make it dull or frizzy.  I am pretty easy-going when it comes to hair, but one thing I cannot stand is brassy tones, this little mother sorts them out quick smart. My shower is never without this indigo beauty.

3. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light

I call this my facial in a compact. This beautiful powder gives my skin the most stunning natural glow. My skin looks fresh, bright, radiant and just glowing with health. I don’t know how Hourglass do it, but there is some kind of sorcery in this powder. I use a light dusting all over my face as the last step in my makeup routine and the result is an ethereal radiance that needs to be seen to be believed.

4. Becca Under Eye Corrector

I have been raving about this corrector for years now. This glorious little pot rids my undereye area of discolouration, it brightens and refreshes without caking or creasing. I use this every time I apply makeup, and even often when I don’t. You can read more about it here, along with the rest of the Becca Bright Eyes range.

5. Beauty Blender

There are many imitations, but no one has quite replicated the magic that is the Beauty Blender. I refuse to apply my foundation with anything other than my trusty sponge. I find my base looks more seamless, foundation looks natural and there isn’t any threat of cakeface. The Beauty Blender blends out cream products effortlessly and is the perfect tool for baking. I never travel without one and always have plenty of backups on hand. Nothing, I mean nothing, compares to the Beauty Blender.

I would love to hear what your top 5 Holy Grail Products are.

BECCA Bright Eyes Collection – REVIEW

BECCA Cosmetics Bright Eyes – This collection sees the addition of two new products to their range – an Anti-Fatigue Primer and a Brightening Setting Powder. These in conjunction with the ever popular Under-Eye Brightening Corrector, which now has two shades, make up the Bright Eyes line.

Beauty Babes,

If you caught my current favourites post, you would have seen me briefly mention the brand new Becca Bright Eyes Collection*. This collection sees the addition of two new products to their range – an Anti-Fatigue Primer and a Brightening Setting Powder. These in conjunction with the ever popular Under-Eye Brightening Corrector, which now has two shades, make up the Bright Eyes line. I have been a long time lover of the Corrector and use it every time I wear make, and even often when I’m not. So, it makes sense that I was ridiculously excited to see this launch.

Anti-Fatigue Eye Primer

What they say –

Coverage can only go so far. This priming balm instantly smoothens and blurs fine lines while reducing puffiness over time. Infused with cucumber, Matcha Green Tea and Caffeine, the sheer and velvety texture effortlessly melts into the skin to condition the eye area. This primer perfectly preps the skin for corrector and concealer application, so makeup never creases or looks cakey.

Yes, I can see how this can come across as gimmicky, but just this once I am going to allow myself to buy into this unnecessary, but beautiful product. Ever since becoming a mum, I have struggled with tired looking eyes and dark circles; a new found problem, that previously I never had to deal with.

This balm is cool to the touch and feels so lovely on the skin. It glides over my delicate under-eye area and it instantly feels refreshed. There is no greasy residue and the skin certainly does look and feel smoother and brighter – the perfect canvas for colour correcting and concealing. I find that my concealer does sit better on my skin and creasing is kept to a minimum when this is used as a prep step. I also really enjoy the cooling effect and the way it blurs out any fine lines.

It is one of those products that isn’t absolutely necessary when it comes to concealing dark circles, but it sure does help. Plus I find the application really enjoyable and a step that has seamlessly slotted into my usual makeup routine.

Under-Eye Brightening Corrector

What they say –

Infused with ultrafine light-reflecting illuminators, this rich luminescent cream won’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles as it preps skin for smooth, even concealer coverage. It pairs perfectly with the Ultimate Coverage Concealing Crème to conceal, colour correct, and brighten the under-eye area.

Becca have finally released a new shade in this cult-status product. I have always loved the peach shade, as it counteracts the grey tones under the eye, and it works perfectly for me, but there is no way ladies with a darker skin tones could get away with it. So it is about bloody time.

There are definitely a few tricks in applying this sticky product. Firstly you just have to warm it up between your fingers before you apply, otherwise it isn’t going to blend in very well. I find it best to pat into the skin to reduce the amount of creasing and it definitely needs to be set.  The formula is quite thick and a little goes a very long way, and things can get into hot mess territory very quickly.  But once you know how to work it, it really is unlike anything else.  So be prepared for a bit of trial and error, but the work is worth it.

The result is bright looking eyes, that aren’t creased or cakey looking, but instead a very natural and fresh finish. Fine lines are instantly blurred and the area is smooth AF. You can then add your usual concealer for ultimate bright eyes, but a lot of the time this set with a brightening powder works perfectly for me. I CANNOT live without this product, and that is really saying something.

Under-Eye Brightening Setting Powder

What they say –

This weightless and invisible loose powder instantly brightens and sets under-eye makeup for lasting wear. Infused with light-reflecting pearl powders, it instantly blurs the appearance of fine lines without settling.

Oh, hello! This powder is unreal. It is so ridiculously soft and light, I don’t think I have ever used a powder so finely milled. As I mentioned, the corrector certainly needs setting and this does the job brilliantly! It brightens, smooths, blurs and works miracles if you ask me. Sometimes, setting powders applied over a few layers of product can look heavy and ageing, but this just softens the area and in a way works like a snapchat filter. I do not have a bad thing to say about this littler wonder.

Overall Thoughts

What a range! Usually when a collection is released there is going to be a few duds, but not here, not for me anyway. Each of the products work well on their own, but create the most natural, perfecting finish I have ever seen when used together.  You could potentially be without the primer and still create a beautiful look, but I really enjoy it and will continue to use and love it. I would definitely recommend trying these babies out next time you are in Sephora.

Are dark circles and tired looking eyes something you struggle with? What is your holy grail product to cover or treat them?

Current Favourites

Favourites – it has certainly been a while, but it;s about damn time I updated my readers with a few noteworthy prodz. Favourites include MooGoo, Tarte, Total Face Group, MAC and Becca Cosmetics.

Hello my little beauty babes,

Favourites – it has certainly been a while, but it;s about damn time I updated my readers with a few noteworthy prodz. While I’ve been off birthing a small child and thus needing to care for the wee child, I haven’t had a great deal of time to trial and discover new products, and my needs have changed slightly, but there definitely has been some standouts.

picture of said child, Louie

I have had quite a few people ask what I have been using lately on my skin. Now, not to blow my own trumpet (toot toot), but my skin is probably looking the best it ever has; I don’t know whether pregnancy/ post-partum hormones are to thank, or whether somehow the combination of sleep deprivation and constant lactation is making my skin fresh AF (the latter is incredibly doubtful) but damn, it is looking good. Surprisingly enough, I really haven’t been using much at all. If the wee child allows me time to actually give my skin some loving, I will give my skin a treat with some Kiehls Creamy Avocado Under Eye Cream, and a splash of The Aurae Beauty Boost Serum. Otherwise, shamefully enough, I smear on my face whatever Moo Goo Skin Milk Udder Cream is left on my hands after giving Louie an after bath massage #mumlife.  I have used this moisturiser on my body and hands for almost 10 years, always having a tube in my handbag. But never have I consistently used it on my face. With the high quality and beautiful ingredients in Skin Milk it isn’t surprising that it works so well.  Moo Goo lover for life.

Also, for the mums out there – if you’ve never used Moo Goo before, I would HIGHLY recommend their products for your little person. I could go on and on about the products, but if you head over to their website, you’ll see for yourself why I have had a decade long love-affair with Moo Goo, and why it is the only skincare brand that I would dare use on my little Louie. (Not sponsored in the slightest – while I have received PR gifts from Moo Goo before, I have also spent a small fortune on their milky goodness).

Current skin situation, thanks to Moo Goo and an Ultraceuticals Mandalic Peel. Tired eyes courtesy of Louie.

On the subject of skincare, I also want to mention a favourite experience of the last month, an amazing peel that I received a few weeks ago. I was kindly gifted an Ultraceuticals Mandalic Peel* by Total Face Group in Chatswood. As a relative newbie to the Ultraceuticals range, it was an absolute pleasure to be able to experience a peel first hand. Marguerite, my lovely therapist, talked me through the process, products and active ingredients – which I found ridiculously helpful (I now have a new obsession with Niacinamide) Ultraceuticals is definitely a brand I want to explore a little bit more and I really want to take some time out for myself more regularly and get frequent facials.

I never thought that I’d see the day where I would be reaching for a powder over a liquid foundation, but between rocking a baby to sleep, guzzling your 784th (cold) coffee of the day, cleaning baby vomit off your dress and trying to ignore that nagging voice of anxiety that comes with taking a newborn child out in the world, there isn’t a whole lot of time to doll yourself up in the morning.  So something quick, easy and one-hand friendly is at the top of my list. Enter Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation. This stuff is no joke.  With a quick swirl of this on a big fluffy brush, my imperfections are covered, skin tone is evened and I’m looking less and less like a corpse by the minute. The finish is beautiful and natural, it doesn’t transfer when I rub my face all over my delicious smelling baby and it last ALL DAMN DAY.

If you bear with me, I’m going to have a detailed review of these brand-new products published shortly, but I have to mention these bad boys in my current favourites. Becca have recently launched the Bright Eyes Collection consisting of an Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer*, their best-selling and my all time favourite Under Eye Brightening Corrector, and the Under-Eye Brightening Setting Powder*. This three step range works fabulously at smoothing, hydrating, blurring and colour correcting the under-eye area. Pre-baby I had no issues with dark circles, but now I need to spend a little more time concealing and brightening the area. Although the 3 steps may seem time consuming, I promise it is worth it. The end result certainly brightens and covers, and the area doesn’t crease nor does it look cakey or powdery, giving me the most natural finish I’ve seen from a corrector yet. Stay tuned for a product break down and a more in-depth chat about these products soon.

The last thing I want to mention is another product that helps to make me look less corpse like, I see a theme here… MAC recently released the Bold & Bad Lash Mascara* and man, is it good one. I never though I’d be raving about a $42 mascara – especially if you saw my Instagram post about the new Benefit mascara. I honestly believe that drug-store mascaras do the job well for a fraction of the price. Buttttt, I love this and have been reaching for this over all my other mascaras for a month or so now. The formula is on the drier side (which I prefer), but it coats the lashes so damn well. My lashes are lengthened, thickened and even hold a curl like you wouldn’t believe. I find that this formula is easily built up, too. Plus, this clever little number is dual-wanded, so the mini wand is great for lower lashes, getting in tight to the water-line and also combing through the lengths. I promise I wouldn’t tell you about an exy mascara if it wasn’t worth the money.

That’s it, kids.

Until next time,

BECCA Cosmetics – Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation Review

As an oily lass, I always struggle to find a foundation that suits my long list of wants and needs – mostly because those very wants and needs are completely contradictory. I don’t like anything too matte and flat, nor do I want to look like I’ve been bathing in oil.  I want something slightly glowy, with a decent amount of coverage and badass longevity on my greasy mug.  It’s a big ask right?! Generally oily skin-types shouldn’t dabble too much with dewy foundations, and anything other than a matte finish doesn’t usually last very well. But I want to look fresh and full of life, too. Very few foundations have answered my slightly-unreasonable demands, but I was hoping that maybe Becca Cosmetics Ever-Matte-Shine Proof Foundation* could be added to super select foundation squad.

This long-wearing medium coverage foundation features a unique microfine powder that absorbs oil so your complexion remains fresh and shine free throughout the day. Created for combination to oily skin, this foundation minimizes the appearance of pores and fine lines, and creates a lasting soft-focus effect. –

…Sounds very promising. The foundation is said to also be a buildable medium coverage, that is oil, fragrance and alcohol free.

The packaging is true to the Becca aesthetic; It is a brown squeezy tube with a metallic silver lid. The tube has a small window that allows the user to see the shade. I really like this type of packaging, as it allows you to get the most out of the product, while being very hygienic at the same time.

The formula isn’t watery, nor is it thick; just a nice happy medium between the two. It spreads on the skin effortlessly and blends out just beautifully. The coverage hides any imperfections and blemishes with ease. I think this is easily a medium coverage foundation, but can be a little difficult to build up as it becomes a little streaky . I prefer to apply it with a kabukui brush, and then blend it out with a damp beauty blender for a flawless result. Using a Beauty Blender alone does tend to sheer it out a fair bit.  After application it doesn’t feel stick or tacky, it’s almost dries down to a powdery finish. Straight away I noticed a slight glow, which I loved but also made me a touch concerned for my oil production throughout the day. The result certainly wasn’t flat. It was even, light-weight, and not cakey in the slightest. Just beautiful.

One half of my face done
Foundation with the rest of my makeup applied

I honestly love how this foundation looks when first applied, but I wouldn’t agree with its shine proof claims. Right from the start there was a little glow that required a touch of powder, which isn’t a big deal, as I generally use a setting powder in my daily application.  I noted that it did start to fade around my nose at the 5 hour mark, and although it was quite dewy, It still looked natural and fresh. My blush and highlight fared well, which for me is quite surprising, as it usually fades quickly. At the 8 hour mark, it was quite shiny and patchy and felt like I definitely needed a touch up, but I still liked the overall look of it. The days that I set it with powder and a mattifying spray certainly had improved longevity and the amount of shine. With over a week of use I haven’t noticed any skin irritation or extra congestion.

After 6 hours of wear

Overall thoughts

I actually really like this foundation. Although I don’t agree that it is completely matte and shine-proof . Which actually fits perfectly into what I like in a foundation. While it becomes quite glowy, it looks lovely and natural but somehow remains fresh. Plus any shine was easily diffused down with a slight dusting of powder. The coverage did seem to also slightly fade throughout the course of the day, but it wasn’t really a huge concern for me. I would imagine ladies without my level of face grease, would really enjoy the benefits of this little beauty.  I have been really loving this foundation for daily wear, it just looks so natural and fresh. I think it may even be giving a couple of my favourites a run for their money. I have been using this baby for a little over a week and just continually reach for it. I do think that it is better suited to a simple everyday look, over a heavy foundation for a night out, but that doesn’t make me love it any less. It is definitely a foundation that I will repurchase in the future.

Becca Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation is available from for $53.90

Have you tried this? What were your thoughts?

Love and light,

Christmas Gift Guide: Stocking Fillers

copy-of-gifting-guide-stocking-fillersI adore Christmas. I transform into a jolly little elf come December 1st. Come by my place and you will find Elvis’s ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas‘ blaring, there are fairy lights, tinsel and glitter in every available space. I opt for Christmas themed movies at night, and red and gold themed looks for the day. I am an absolute Christmas sucker.

I especially love buying presents. There is no better feeling in the world than putting a smile on a loved one’s face.

I fly up to Brisbane to catch up with my family each year, and to say I am excited is an understatement. Living away from my Mum, Dad, siblings, and especially my nieces is can be quite difficult during the year, but seeing everyone at Christmas  makes it that little more special. The only challenging aspect is getting the presents up there. I try to opt for smaller gifts that are easily stuffed into my suitcase. Which is why I thought my gifting guide would focus purely on stocking stuffers – Small, usually inexpensive gifts, but I am never one to overlook quality.

Evodia has the most incredible fragrance range. Their scents are fresh, robust but subtle at the same time. This year the Victorian Rose collection really stands out to me.  It is so elegant, soft and feminine, and immediately reminds me of my grandmother’s rose garden. Inexpensive but incredible quality, any of the Evodia a range is a perfect gift for anyone that appreciates smelling delicious, and I mean, who doesn’t?   I will actually be wrapping up the Victorian Rose collection and popping it in my suitcase to give to my Grandmother who just adores anything rose.

Another fragrance range I have to touch on is NEST fragrances. Nest have been recently released in Sephora Australia and I was luck enough to attend their launch event. As a fragrance junkie, believe me when I say that these are perfection! Everything about the brand screams elegance and class. They say love is in the details, well these little babies are overflowing with special little touches. The packaging, artwork and fragrances have been personally curated by Nest creator Laura Slatkin. The bottles look like a piece of art and would add a beautiful touch to any makeup vanity. But the fragrances themselves are insanely beautiful. My picks are Midnight Fleur, an intoxicatingly sexy scent, full of vanilla, orchid and jasmine. I also adore Citrine. Citrine is a bottle of happiness and sunshine. The scent is a combination of lotus, freshia and citrus. Not too sweet, not too citrusy – just perfect.

Skincare and Cosmetics

Active Skin is a new website to me, but man are they good. Not only to they carry the most luxurious brands around, they also stock affordable options. There is haircare, skincare, cosmeceuticals, cosmetics, fragrances and even candles. Plus they always have a promo going. Shipping is fast and your purchases are accompanied by a little Kit Kat. I love that they have done all the hard work for you, and have a page dedicated to Christmas gifts. My picks would be the Lancome Juicy Shakers Trio Pack, I love these little lip balm/gloss/oil hybrids. They are so so so comfortable on the lips, they add a touch of colour and sheen, all while hydrating those little smoochers to baby’s bottom status. The Becca Blushed with Light palette is also another great pick.It contains 3 universally flattering shades of blush, all in the one handy trio. Candles always make great gifts for Secret Santa’s or someone who is hard to buy for. The Ecoya Mini Maddison Gift set is a great option, with three different scents.

Discovering new and innovative products is my favourite thing about being a beauty lover. Just recently I came across probably my favourite beauty discovery this year. CINCH Face Cheat is amazing. It is a 5-in-1 product that comes in a gorgeously packaged spray. Face Cheat is first and foremost a moisturiser that continues to hydrate for 72(!) hours. It also illuminates, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and pores and primes the skin. I also like using it as a setting spray that makes you glow like nothing else. This would be the perfect addition to anyone’s skincare and makeup collection.

I think that subscription boxes are a fantastic gift idea. They are the perfect option for the beauty lover who has everything. These services are a gift that just keeps giving. While I have had my fair share of bad experiences with beauty boxes, Maslow & Co have absolutely restored my faith. These boxes are full of high-quality, interesting products that aren’t easily found in Australia, allowing the recipient to experience many new items. Maslow & Co have even have on offer one-off boxes and specifically curated holiday boxes.

I love the Wanderer Collection from Ulta3. This gorgeous set is actually ideal for me and I’ll be holding onto this one myself. Featuring Elyse Knowles‘ favourite travel essentials, this pack is perfect for anyone that travels regularly and loves to look glowy and put-together. The strobing kit is just gorgeous! The cream and powder products blend seamlessly into the skin. The liquid lip shine is the perfect all-rounder and would suit almost anybody. Plus the bag-tag and sleeping mask are just too damn adorable. Ulta3 have a complete collection dedicated to Christmas gifting, I would definitely check out the other items.

I could write forever about beauty gift ideas! Mostly because I want all the beauty!!!! ECO Tools is a great little gift, it contains 3 double-ended brushes and a little travel bagg. The brushes are oh-so soft and such a high quality, that not only are practical and durable but super cute as well. Stila Stay All Day minis are gorgeous, and a great way to try a couple of different shades, it is probably my favourite liquid lippie formula to. Lastly, Mecca is absolutely killing it this year with their holiday collections, head to their website and you are bound to find the perfect gift.

Frankly My Dear have been designing primo jewellery for quite a while now, and usually feature heavily on my very own Christmas wishlist. Their pieces are to die for! They are also really reasonably priced. They do gorgeous dainty little rings and chains. But even if you’re after something a little more bold, they got you covered too. I have had my eye on these White Turquoise earrings for the longest time. I also love their gemstone pieces and detailed statement necklaces.

I am a huge watch lover and I have noticed a lot of online boutique watch shops pop up, like Barbas and Zacari and Uncle Jack. These shops carry gorgeous unique timepieces that are great quality, and really good on the wallet.  There are many colour options which allow you to match your watch to your outfit and both stores allows you to purchase extra bands to change-up your look even more. My picks are the Rose timepiece from Barbas and Zacari and the brand new Megan Gale Collection from Uncle Jack.

Clothes are always a good option too. Roll up a t-shirt and pop it in a stocking. Done and done. I have really been enjoying Few and Far Collective for both Men and Woman’s styles. They are a local Australian brand that create incredible designs. Their range is huge and I any dude would be stoked with a Few and Far tee.

For those beauty and food lover, I don’t think you can go past The Beauty Chef‘s brand new cookbook. This cookbook was created on the philosophy that “beauty is created in the belly.” It is a gluten and dairy free cookbook that contains over 150 recipes. As a big lover of The Beauty Chef powders and skincare, this was a natural next step for me. Although this is a little large to be a stocking stuffer, It is square and compact which makes it a great, thoughtful little gift. I love the idea of eating nourishing foods that not only are nutritional that good for your skin.

I was fortunate enough to be gifted a few goodies from Colette  over the last couple of months, and each item seems to be ideal for small Christmas gifts or even Secret Santas. Their range is adorable and definitely suited to the young female. When you think of Colette you immediately think costume jewellery and bags, but no, they are so much more than that. My picks are the initial key rings, Coffee travel mug, Cocktail shaker and stunning beach tote.

What do you want Santa to bring you? I REAAAALLLY want a stand-up paddle board, but that is a big ask, haha.

Happy festivities and shopping,

Camille xo
