Chi Chi Highlighting and Contouring Palette

I have so many highlight & contour palettes and to be honest, I really don’t use them often. The formula is either chalky, the colours are all wrong or they just don’t blend well. However, when I saw that Chi Chi cosmetics were releasing their own version, I just had this feeling that it was going to tick all the boxes. With each new release from Chi Chi,  I am more and more impressed with their high-quality and innovative products. You can read more about my thoughts on the brand  here. As soon as I heard that it was released, I rushed to Myer to get my hot little hands on a palette – Lucky enough for me there was a 25% off sale too.

At first glance the packaging is beautiful and elegant. The black pattern and golden highlights are lovely.  I really love the flip lid and magnetic closure. On the inside of the lid there is really great detailed instructions. It goes through each colour and the best spot to apply it to. I adore the layout of this palette; the pan sizes are huge! And with 8 colours, you really can’t go wrong.

Now to the actual product – the formula is sooooo creamy and buttery, plus they are highly pigmented. The shades apply beautifully to the skin and blend effortlessly. Due to the colours being so soft, I definitely recommend tapping off excess product before applying to prevent too much colour payoff. The contour shades pack a punch, so go in gently and build up gradually to stop them from becoming muddy. The palette contains 1 shimmer highlight, 2 neutral shades, 1 banana shade, 2 gray toned contour shades and 2 bronzer shades which are a touch warmer. The banana shade and gray toned contour shades are stand outs for me. The banana shade works perfectly to set and brighten the under-eye area, while the cool toned contour shade (no. 6) creates such a natural shadow needed for contouring. At first I didn’t like the highlight shade at all, I found it a little lack lustre. But my opinion has since changed. It is perfect for an understated, muted highlight which is ideal for a nice and natural look. I have actually started reaching for it more and more.

Overall this palette is amazing. I really don’t have anything negative to say. It will be perfect for everyday use and for travelling, the shades also double as eyeshadows. If you can manage to get yourself one, I would say go for it! With a $24.95 price tag, you really won’t be disappointed.

Too Faced Sweet Peach

She is finally mine and what a peach she is. I have been lusting over this palette since it was revealed in December. I love anything peach and anything Too Faced, so Sweet Peach and I were a match made in heaven. Although actually getting the palette was a bit of a challenge, it was all worth it in the long run. Just look at this deliciousness…

First off the packaging is amazing. The colours are beautiful and really standout amongst my other palettes. It is the same style as the Chocolate Bar palettes. It is strong, sturdy and so pretty to look at. Sweet Peach smells deliciously like peaches, it is subtle and not too overwhelming. The palette contains 18 shades with salmon, gold and bronze hues, which are both matte and shimmers. True to form the formula of the shadows are amazing. They’re rich, pigmented and buttery. The salmon tones are the real highlight of the palette, they’re so unique and will suit all eye colours and most skin tones.

Unfortunately Sweet Peach is limited edition (seriously limited) at the minute and has just been released in Australia by Mecca Maxima, both online and in store. So if this bad boy is right up your alley, you had better move fast to get your mitts on it.

Clinique Australia – GWP

Don’t you just love gifts with purchase?! It is a great way to trial other products that you wouldn’t usually purchase. I have discovered some incredible products just from receiving  generous samples and most of my cosmetics bags are from these deals.  I was lucky enough to get my grubby mitts on Clinique’s current GWP available from David Jones.  Lets have a little peak inside…

First off,  how adorable are these make-up bags?! Not one, but two! Adorned with gorgeous beauty products, they’re so bright and fun, but also so practical. Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion is one of my all time favourite daily moisturisers. It is so light, absorbs like a dream and so perfect for under make up. I would never have guessed that something so light would be so hydrating. Next up is another favourite of mine, the Take The Day Off Makeup Remover.  This little guy glides over the skin removing all traces of eye makeup – waterproof mascara and all. I like to use this before going in with a cleansing oil. The size of this bottle is just ideal, and with a spill proof lid, it is just perfect for travel. I also received huge samples of Repairwear Laser Focus Wrinkle Correcrting Eye Cream and Repairwear Laser Focus Night Line Smoothing Cream. I am so excited to give these a go. seriously, these jars are not that much smaller than my usual night and eyecreams. I have read really good reviews on both of these products and can’t wait to incorporate into my daily skincare routine.

Next up is Blushing Blush in Precious Posey, let me just say the packaging is giving me life. It is so sleek and elegant. The top is a beautiful silver reflective surface with Clinique embossed in white. Inside a huge mirror and huge pan. The colour is stunning, a beautiful natural peachy pink with a slight shimmer. Very reminiscent of Nars Orgasm.  If is it anything like Clinique’s other range of blushes, it’ll be really long-lasting. The stunning Long Last Soft Matte lipstick is also included in the shade magenta. This is my kind of shade. The formula is creamy, easy to apply and not drying. It is matte but I find that it has a nice sheen to it, which makes it so comfortable on the lips. This little guy is going straight in my lipstick drawer. Lastly, is a sample of the new Aromatics Perfume Spray in White. When I first sprayed this I thought of my grandma, a strong powdery floral scent. However as it settled on my skin, I absolutely loved it. It is fresh and subtle, full of soft florals yet smells a little like clean sheets. Now bear with me, I am pretty pathetic at describing perfumes, but this is actually really lovely. It makes me think of crisp white collared shirts, fresh air and spring.  Next time you are in-store give it a little spray and smell it 5 minutes later, don’t go by the initial scent.

All of that for free? Incredible and so generous. This perk is available from David Jones with any Clinique purchase over $60 and is available until May 15th.

New and Noteworthy

Being a beauty blogger and obsessive quite a lot of new products grace my desk from week to week.  I thought I would share with you a couple of new and noteworthy products currently at On A Beauty Bender HQ.

I was generously gifted a stunning package from Sisley Paris containing an Express Flower Gel Mask and 3 Phyto-Eye Twists. I haven’t had much experience with this particular brand, so I am looking forward to giving these products a try. The packaging is classy and elegant, and immediately caught my eye. The Express Flower masks boasts a high concentration of hydrating ingredients such as lily, iris and sesame extracts. It also claims to fight any traces of fatigue and stress in three minutes and leaves the skin brighter, glowing and radiant. I am really looking forward to using this beautiful product in my next pamper session. Stay tuned for a review.  The Phyto-Eye twists are long-lasting,  water-proof eye-shadow pencils full of active botanicals. The pencils are beautifully packaged with zebra print gracing the tubes. The pencil itself is mechanical and is a  great size making it easy to grip and use. The formula is smooth and velvety and glides on with ease. They blend amazingly and seriously last forever. I first swatched them on my hand and carried on with my daily chores – washing up, vacuuming etc and I noticed the swatches were still intact on my hand while I was cooking dinner several hours later.  I have worn these a couple of times and really love them. They are perfect for a swipe of colour for an easy make up look. Sisley Paris are sold exclusively in David Jones stores.

Flawless foundation application with the Lottie London foundation brush.

Lottie London is a beauty accessories brand that has recently been released in Australia and will be sold exclusively at Target. I adore the beautiful bright colours and they stand out in my current brush collection. The brushes themselves are really soft and pick up product easily. They are dense and fluffy and enable a perfect application of eyesahdows and foundation. Lottie London is vegan and cruelty free and really great value for money. If you are after an affordable and effective brush Lottie London is a great place to start.

I was lucky enough to pick up The Estee Lauder new Flawless Start primer from the Beauty Heaven Beautorium. I am so so so glad that I used my points to purchase this – It is amazing. It applies so smoothly, instantly covers pores and creates the perfect canvas for makeup. My foundation glides on and lasts all day without any shine, my skin is brightened and hydrated. This little guy is a winner.

I picked up Mario Badescu drying cream from Mecca recently as I have notices an increase of blackheads on my nose (Yuck!) and nasty hormonal breakouts.  I have read really impressive reviews on this treatment cream and thought I would give it a go. Stay tuned for a review in a couple of weeks time.

Touch in Sol is a brand that I have really been enjoying lately. It has sparked my interest in Korean cosmetics. I own quite a few of their primers and so far love them all. The No Poreblem primer is so lovely. It feels so soft on the skin and really disguises pores and evens out skin tone. I have only used this bad boy once or twice but I already know it is going to be a frequently used product. I have also tried the Dark Out primers. These primers are coloured and are used for specific skin complaints. Purple covers dark spots, Green covers redness and the Peach disguises gray skin tones. These little tubes are really beautiful primers and are right on trend at the moment. Colour correcting is a great way of creating a flawless base. Stay tuned for a brand spotlight on Touch In Sol shortly.
